The latest book from KJ is wonderful. I loved all the Australianism throughout mixed with the unpronounceable names of the Breulian characters, thanks for the guide. The smile on my face was there continuously with every page and I burst out laughing at some places. However, the story had an important message about politics and the environment. The theme threading through the book was ‘balance’. When the elements are in balance then all is well. I recommend this book which is a little different than this author’s previous work.

I received an ARC of this new book from Melissa Tereze. An interesting plot with a few twists and turns. The Hideout is the name of the bar was very appropriate as it epitomized the premise of the story. A broken Paige, the mixologist, hiding from her abusive husband. I found James, the husband, to be the most despicable character in any book I have read. Gladly the story has a happy ending as I knew it must but still an age-gap romance with a pinch of disquiet and some angst. I recommend this book but suggest you don’t have any valuable crockery at hand that you may resort to throwing at a wall.

It’s not often there is a story where the backdrop is in Africa but this one has it in spades. The description of the scenery had me Googling several times for images of the Devil’s Pool and some of the many rapids. Never having been whitewater rafting I felt every movement of the raft whilst reading this book. The author was unknown to me but not anymore. If you are into armchair adventure with your sapphic romance then this is a must-read.

Scarlett Fever by Claire Highton-Stevenson

I loved reading this book even though I had a stitch from laughing so much in a few places. The main characters are so well-suited to each other and the supporting siblings are so well-defined. If I had to choose a family to belong to it would be Claudia’s.

These Thin Lines by Milena McKay

Yet another great read from McKay. I was lucky to receive an ARC and read it in two days. This story is a kind of sequel to Delicate Things but not. Yes, I know that is confusing but it is about the characters working in the International Fashion Industry and involves the appearance of one of the characters from Delicate Things.

The main characters Vi and Chiara leap from the page as we have come to expect from this author. The twists and turns of the story are woven through the fairytales parallel. The guilt, the angst, and of course the love is full throttle so hang onto your seat. Do I recommend this book? Of course, I do.

Meeting  Millie by Clare Ashton

Poppy Jenkins was always my favourite of Ashton’s characters but there is now another. Millie Banks the effervescent daughter of a single-parent, comprehensive school educated, and apparently a straight friend of Charlotte Albright. In the first few pages, Millie leaps out larger than life. The story is set in the University town of Oxford where both main characters completed their degrees in law. The author goes back and forward in time seamlessly describing the events in their lives.

It is always sad to reach the end of an excellent book but this one especially ends with such emotion and humour. As an ARC reader, I would recommend this book and look forward to seeing it receive numerous accolades.
